Establishment of Nomura Investment Management Co., Ltd. by consolidating the Investment Management Department at Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. and Institutional Research and Advisory Department at The Nomura Securities Co., Ltd.
Initiated investing for US pension funds at the same time that the New York subsidiary, NCM, began operations

1984 First in the industry to be approved to concurrently conduct investment advisory business
Established first public fund in Japan to be distributed exclusively by multiple designated securities firms

Establishment of NIMCO (Europe) in London which later changed name to NCM (UK)

1986

Promulgation and enforcement of the Law Concerning Regulation, etc. of the Investment Advisory Business Relating Securities

1987 Establishment of NAMIL (London) / Establishment of Osaka Branch

Registered as an investment management firm and licensed for discretionary investments
Initiated investing for domestic public pension funds

1988 Establishment of NAMAL (Hong Kong) / Establishment of Nagoya Branch

Establishment of NCM (SP) in Singapore

1990 Establishment of NAMS (Singapore)
Establishment of Japanese Investment Trust System Research Institute Co., Ltd which later changed its name to Nomura Asset Management Research Institute Ltd.

Initiated investing for private domestic corporation pension funds

1992 Establishment of MMF (Himawari)

 

1995 Initiation of direct trading business
Establishment of "market investing based on Nikkei 300 stock index interlocking"
Licensed for investment discretionary business

Establishment of NCM (A) in Sydney

October 1, 1997 Establishment of Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd.

  • April 1998

    Money Reserve Fund was established. It was the first Japanese fund to be rated Aaa by Moody's

  • April 1999

    Established Nomura BlackRock Asset Management Co.,Ltd. as a joint venture with BlackRock Co.,Inc. of the U.S.

  • February 2000

    Establishment of Japan's largest ever stock fund, Nomura JAPAN Stock Strategic Fund

  • November 2000

    Company name changed in Japanese

  • July 2001

    Launched two Exchange Traded Funds (ETF), one linked to the Nikkei 225 and the other to TOPIX

  • October 2001

    Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd. became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nomura Holdings, Inc.
